The city of Ayutthaya was founded by King U-Thong in
1350 within a bend ofthe Chao Phraya river, Ayutthaya was the capital of the
Thai kingdom at at the greatest period in history Conquered and sacked by the
Burmese in 1767, today amazing ruins of its former splendor remain. Ayutthaya is
72 kilometers north of Bankok so within easy day trip range.
This is now a UNESCO World
Heritage Site.

Although now crumbling this is still a fascinating view of Thailand’s former glories the city was Thai capital for over 400 years
